FreChurch of the Holy Ghost

The FreChurch of the Holy Ghost is an octagonal church that was built in the late 19th-century for Portuguese Catholics in the area. The church boasts an elaborate altar and fourteen uniquely decorated Stations of the Cross.

Banyan Tree

The Banyan Tree was planted in 1873 and today stands 50 feet tall, has 12 subsidiary trunks in addition to its main support and encompasses nearly an acre. Craftspeople and artists often gather below the tree’s expansive branches and peddle their wares.

Completed in 1859 and for many years the courthouse was used as a central location for the post office, courtroom, customs house and offices for the sheriff and governor. Stones used in the construction of the courthouse came from the ruins of King Kamehameha III’s intended palace. Today the courthouse is used for art exhibits, museum displays and as a visitors’ center.
